Star Flyer in the Baltic for Summer 2012

The tall ship cruise specialists Star Clippers have some rather interesting Summer 2012 itineraries. New for Star Clippers in 2012 are its Baltic voyages sailing on the 170 guest Star Flyer between May and August.

Departures for this Baltic season will be from Southampton, England; Oslo, Norway; HamburgKiel and Warnemuende,Germany; Stockholm,Sweden; Copenhagen,Denmark and Amsterdam, the Netherlands. Itineraries will include the possibility to add extended stays and also +late-night departures.

Itineraries will range from three to 11 nights and the Star Flyer will visit the popular ports included in many Baltic itineraries including St Petersburg, Amssterdam and Helsinki. Whilst due to her size there will be calls at many smaller, and lesser known of ports.  How often to passengers get the opportunity to call at ports such as Ventspils in Latvia, Kalunborg in Denmark and Hanko in Finland?

Three of the departures, which will sail out of Hamburg on 10th May, Kiel on 22nd June and Warnemuende on 10th August, will all coincide with the annual sailing parades in those cities which attract tall ships from around the world. Therefore anyone who is a tall ship sailing enthusiast will be in their element with not only sailing themselves on a tall ship but being part of the festivities that go along with the sailing parades. Apart from three back-to-back voyages of 10 departing from Stockholm in Sweden comencing the 30th July, the remainder of the itineraries are all unique.

The five night sailing from Southampton to Hamburg sailing on the 5th May, calling at Amsterdam has been particularly popular with British passengers wanting to sample the delights of a Star Clipper cruise.

The director of marketing for Star Clippers commented that “When we were developing the Baltic itineraries we knew we had to make them special and unique, which is why we included so many intimate ports that are going to leave a lasting impression on our guests, our guests like adventure and they seek memorable experiences, and we expect the Baltic cruises to be among our most popular ever … so guests should book early.”

All Star Clippers ships including Royal Clipper, Star Clipper and Star Flyer feature open-seating dining in an elegantly appointed dining room, a convivial indoor-outdoor Tropical Bar and Piano Bar, and an Edwardian style library where a Belle Époque fireplace glows with warmth that reflects the friendliness and enthusiasm of Star Clippers’ hospitable officers and crew.
